EMMET COUNTY - Board of County Commissioners Meeting September 19, 2019 - 6:00 PM Amendment to MIDC Contract


SUMMARY: The Michigan Indigent Defense Commission (MIDC), through the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), are awaiting the State approving the FY2020 Budget. Without the FY2020 budget having been approved yet, MIDC and LARA will not have prepared the MIDC contract for FY2020 for signature prior to October 1st. They are asking that the local funding units sign an amendment to the FY2019 contract to continue to fund indigent defense services beyond October 1st until a new contract is signed. The document titled “Amendment to Allow For Expenditure of Fiscal Year 2019 Unexpended Funds” is attached. They need the signed amendment back to them no later than September 25, 2019.


RECOMMENDATION: I recommend approval and signing of the amendment to the contract. MOTION: I move that the Board approve the attached Amendment to Allow for Expenditure of Fiscal Year 2019 Unexpended Funds among the MIDC, LARA, and Emmet County, and authorize the Chairperson to sign said document on behalf of the County of Emmet.
