Commissioners:

The purpose of this meeting is to allow for an exchange of information between the newly elected incoming Commissioners, and current Emmet County Commissioners, and certain staff members of the Administration. Due to the vast amount of information to be reviewed and available for discussion or questioning, and in order to preserve valuable time, each of the newly elected Commissioners has received the information in advance of this meeting. The new Commissioners were requested to thoroughly acclimate themselves with the information, and to prepare any questions they have from reviewing the information.

With the meeting set for two hours (120 minutes) we believed spending between 5-8 minutes on each area would allow for an exchange of information, and give the new Commissioners ample time towards the end of the training session to go “one on one” with the Board members regarding their jobs and responsibilities, and ask questions on any topic that they felt was not covered.

It is impossible to prepare the new Commissioners with everything that they must know or learn prior to their initial board meeting in January of 2023, but I believe this will allow for a good head start on their path of understanding the processes associated with being an Emmet County Commissioner. I have strongly encouraged the new Commissioners to reach out and make personal connections with the current Board of Commissioners, as well as those ending their service to our county.
